1/2S

This half term our topic is 'Party Time'

The children will be learning about a variety of celebrations including, Bonfire Night, Divali, Birthday's and of course, Christmas! We will be writing about our personal experiences of some of these celebrations, writing play scripts, creating invitations, emailing Santa and creating an animation of Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem.

In maths we will be continuing to concentrate on number facts, counting, reading 2 digit numbers and addition. We will also be measuring distance, creating a variety of patterns and collecting data ready to display their findings using ICT. Every Friday we will have a problem to solve that will allow the children to apply what they have learnt in their Maths lesson into a real life situation.

It is important that reading books come into school everyday. We will read with your child twice a week in school and ask that you read at home with your child regularly. There are suggested questions in the back of the reading books which you can ask your child once the book has been read at home.

PE will be every Monday morning so it is important that your child has a PE kit in school until the end of the half term.

Children should also keep wellies in school as we will be doing outdoor learning every Friday. It is anticipated that we will venture out in most types of weather so it is vital that they also have a suitable coat.

In addition to all of this, we will be practicing our Christmas concert ready to show all of you on Friday 8th December!

If you have any questions please feel free to approach us at the end of the school day.
