Summer Term
This term, our class will be learning through the topic 'All Change', with a rich and exciting focus on 'Circle of Life.' This topic helps children explore how the natural world is connected and how environments, living things and people relate to one another.
In geography, pupils will learn about the distribution of global biomes and where they are found around the world. We will explore rainforests, deserts and polar regions, discovering what makes each biome unique and how plants, animals and people adapt to live there. Children will also compare the African savannah with our local area of Bridgend and Wales, helping them understand similarities and differences between environments near and far.
Our learning will also celebrate African culture, with a focus on African artists, music and artwork. Children will learn about African tribes and traditions and will recreate patterns inspired by African design, developing creativity alongside cultural understanding and respect.
In science, pupils will explore the human body, learning about the different functions and systems of organs and how they work together to keep us healthy. This will link closely to learning about healthy lifestyles, including what makes a balanced diet and why good nutrition is important for our bodies.
'Circle of Life' offers an engaging mix of geography, science and expressive arts, encouraging children to think globally, celebrate diversity and understand how living things, including humans, are part of a connected and changing world.
