Summer Term

This term, our class will be exploring 'All Change' with a focus on 'Blue Planet, Green Hearts.' This topic helps children understand their role in the world and explore the positive and negative impact humans have on our planet.

Children will learn about how everyday human actions can affect the environment, including oceans, land, plants and animals. We will explore ways people can harm the planet, as well as the many positive actions that help to protect and care for it.

As part of this learning, pupils will be introduced to renewable energy, finding out what it is, why it is important and how it can help look after the Earth for the future. Children will also explore the different beliefs people have about our planet and how these beliefs can influence the choices people make.

In Science and Technology, pupils will study the life cycles of plants and animals and learn about food chains, developing an understanding of how living things depend on one another. This will help children see how changes in the environment can affect wildlife and natural habitats.

Our learning will also be supported through the class text Eddie the Penguin Saves the World, which will encourage discussion about caring for the planet and inspire children to think about how small actions can make a big difference.

Through Blue Planet, Green Hearts, we aim to help children become thoughtful, informed and environmentally responsible citizens, who understand that they have the power to create positive change in the world around them.
