Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

This year the Year 3 teacher is Mr McNamara.  He is very fortunate to have support from Mrs Grandon, Miss Sewell, Mrs Stewart and Mrs Rees. We are also very lucky to have our volunteer Mr Jones who comes in every week to listen to the children read.

Cornerstones

This half term our topic is Sportswear Designers.  We will be learning about the properties of a range of materials and how these are used in manufacturing sportswear and equipment.  In this project the children will learn:

  • About a range of different materials and their properties;
  • Which materials are good insulators and conductors of heat;
  • Which materials are waterproof;
  • How to use the features of adverts.

Class Assembly

The children all enjoyed our assembly based on our last topic of Children Of The Revolution.  Thank you for your help with costumes and helping the children learn their words.  I am sure those who were able to attend enjoyed it.

Bridgend Junior Games

The children really enjoyed the event at the Bridgend Recreation Centre.  Have a look at some of the photos.

Tae Kwon Do

The class were lucky to receive a taster session run by Steve Tottle.  The children really enjoyed the lesson.  If they would like to attend classes out of school they are held at Brackla Community Centre more information can be found on stevetottletaekwondo.co.uk

American Visitors

The school were visited by visitors from America who led an assembly then talked to the children in class.  The children had a great time as can be seen by the photos.

Ospreys Visit

We were very lucky to receive a visit from two professional rugby players from the Ospreys, Matthew Morgan and Marc Thomas.  This was organised through Mike Williams our local W.R.U. officer.  The children asked them lots of questions about the things they have to do to ensure they eat healthily and look after their bodies.
