Nursery Art Gallery

The children worked very hard creating different pieces of artwork. They all experimented with different techniques and then chose their favourite technique to create their under the sea background. We then recycled lots of different materials to decorate our paintings. We also made sea creature models. We set up our art gallery and sold our art work for £1. What a bargain!

Under the Sea

A Rainbow Trout

We had a real fish in Nursery today. We looked carefully at it and painted what we could see.

Summer Term

Our topic for this term is 'Under the Sea'. For our 'Rich Task' we received a letter from Mrs John asking us to create our own art gallery in our school foyer. We set straight to work and talked about all the things that we needed to do. We've put all of our ideas on the wall so we can remember what we need to do. Here are our some of our ideas.....

Learn about sea creatures, Make a sign for the art gallery, make sculptures and models for the art gallery, paint under the sea paintings, paint sea creatures, make name labels and frames for our paintings.

Eggstravaganza

We are busy planning our ' Eggstravaganza'. We have been brainstorming our ideas and we are very excited. We have decided to invite our families, make Easter food, decorations and Egg/ Easter bonnets.

We had a fantastic day celebrating our learning. In the morning we sang Easter songs, went on egg hunts and played parachute and egg games. That wasn't all though! In the afternoon we had our Easter food and then our families came to see us. We paraded with our Egg/ Easter bonnets, sang our songs and then shared our learning with our families.
Looking after the chicks helped us with lots of our learning.  We painted chicks, created shape chicks, made playdough chicks and lots more.

Chick Watch

Look at what arrived in Nursery today! Chick watch has begun. We will keep you posted with any updates so keep watching!

Nursery did a great job looking after our 10 little chicks. We gave them names, fed them and thought of all the things we needed to do to look after them. Other classes came to visit the chicks and ' Chick Watch' told them everything we had learned.

Dinosaur Museum

The children have been very busy learning all about dinosaurs and they have had a wonderful idea to create their own museum to show all their findings. Today we have been learning about dinosaur skeletons and created our own skeletons using pipes.

The finished museum

The children have worked very hard and are proudly displaying all of their dinosaur work in their brilliant museum.

The children have been busy finding out facts about dinosaurs.
We have even made our own dinosaurs and dinosaur nests and also explored with printing to create scaly dinosaur skin.

Eggsasaurus!

Our new topic is Eggsasaurus and we are starting with dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs Galore

Light Box

We have a new dark tent in Nursery and this week we have been using our light box to explore with shapes. We even made some patterns with the shapes.

Sense of Touch
This week we have been enjoying the sunshine in our willow area. We have been using our sense of touch and helping the bear from our story of the week 'We're going on a Bear Hunt'. We have explored different textures to make him a new home, painted him new friends using mud and got a bit messy making him some mud pies!
We have also been helping Mr Bear to learn about in, on and under. We had lots of fun following instructions and we even used the words too!

Our Sense of Hearing - I can hear!

We have been reading the story 'Peace at Last' and poor Mr. Bear could not get to sleep because there were too many noises. We have been using our listening ears to help Mr. Bear to find out about different sounds by sorting toys that make sounds and toys that don't make a sound. We have been singing lots of songs and exploring with making different sounds. We used pots and pans and even made our own instruments. Mr Bear liked it when we played quiet music ( and so did the grown ups too!

We also went on a listening walk and heard the birds tweeting, the children talking, the leaves rustling and lots more!

Our own instruments

We have also been doing lots of looking with our 'I Spy Finders' and found lots of different things in our Nursery.

Here are some of the things that we have found.
