The school holidays can be an expensive and frustrating time for families, so here are some ideas to help entertain the whole family!
Community play schemes are free!
Run by Bridgend County Borough Councils Play Development Team, free community play schemes will take place from Monday 29 July until Friday 23 August for youngsters aged 8 - 13, with the activities on offer ranging from arts and crafts to water play, sports and messy play too.
Parc Slip Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre in Tondu offers a wide range of activities that are either free or a small donation is to be paid. Pack a picnic and your wellies and enjoy activities such as Reptile Rambling and Wildlife Walks.
Which way to the beach?
We are very lucky to have some beautiful beaches in the county of Bridgend. Why not pack a picnic and jump on the X2 bus from Bridgend town to Porthcawl. Porthcawl hosts beaches that have been recognized in the Marine Conservation Society’s Good Beach Guide for possessing bathing-water of the highest quality. Only beaches consistently achieving the highest quality bathing water throughout regular testing make it onto the Marine Conservation Society’s recommended list of beaches, with Rest Bay, Sandy Bay and Trecco Bay in Porthcawl all receiving the highest honour.
