Homework for this half term

P.E. has changed days!

Spring B Term Topic - Lleisiau Cymru

As part of our whole school topic of Wales, Upper Key Stage 2 are developing their understanding of democracy, appreciating that they have a voice and have a Right to be listened to, learning about Welsh political history, such as the Newport Chartist March and finding out what the Welsh Government is doing towards protecting our environment.

Greek Geeks

Welcome back and Happy New Year!

Our new topic this term is Greek Geeks and the children are very excited about it. You can see our class letter for more information about what we will be covering over the coming weeks. Meanwhile, here are a few reminders for the term ahead...

P.E - Be Ready!

OUTDOOR LEARNING

Your child will frequently take part in outdoor learning activities and would benefit from having a pair of wellies or spare old shoes in school at all times.

Reading and Homework

Welcome to 4/5H. Joining Miss Helm in class this year is Miss Brewster. Children have settled well in a short space of time and are eager to get on with some of the exciting activities planned for the term.

This term the whole of KS2 are working from the book "Skies Above My Eyes". To accompany the book we are working on The Golden Compass graphic novel, the story of Daedalus and Icharus and a wide range of non-fiction books about space. Children will be writing play scripts, creating comic strips, writing instructions and creating fact files in language lessons.

In maths children will be improving their mental maths and number facts recall in Guided Group Maths sessions and looking at place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, decimal numbers and fractions in our focused tasks. It would be helpful for your child if you could support them in learning their times tables.

Children will be carrying out investigations in science, looking at the migration of birds, identifying clouds, investigating planets among a whole host of other activities.

PE will take place every Thursday and we are very excited to be using our new Real PE scheme. Please ensure that your child brings dark shorts and a white t-shirt. Trainers will not be necessary for the first half term. Hair needs to be tied back.

Children will need to bring their reading every day and should be reading to an adult at least twice a week.

Home work was distributed on Wednesday 11th September with the first piece due on the 25th September.

As term progresses class pages will be updated but in the meantime if you have any suggestions or problems please let us know.
